PANJIM: Terming it as monumental corruption by the Transport Dept under the Congress as well as the BJP, Aam Aadmi Party today filed a complaint before the ACB asking for registration of FIR against all concerned in the evasion of Cess under the Goa Rural Improvement and Welfare Cess Act of 2000. AAP General Secretary Pradeep Padgaonkar who has filed the complaint said that the CAG had estimated the loss to about ₹300 crores at the beginning of the year 2016. He said that it could now have gone in the range of ₹1000 crores or more and wondered how the department of transport could take it so lightly as not to go after the evaders.
“If there is a small shortfall in payment of personal income tax, the IT department comes knocking at your door. But here is a case where the concerned department of the state government happily ignores recovery running into over 1000 crores. Is it because of the involvement of Adanis and Jindals?” asked Padgaonkar. He said that if the CM goes by his oft repeated saying ‘bivpachi garaz na’ should go after those involved and dismiss officials involved and launch prosecution against them.
Taking a dig at Transport minister Mauvin Godinho, Padgaonkar said that his ‘power scam’ became ‘attempt to power scam’ upon joining BJP and wondered whether any investigation would be launched. “If ACB fails to act, we will move the court and pray in the words of the Lokayukta that God alone save Goa” said Padgaonkar
