BENAULIM: AAP Benaulim MLA Capt Venzy Viegas stated that until the ruling party cannot be defeated in the hustings by any one party, an alliance of non-BJP parties is required.
He further emphasized that the Aam Admi Party has “come here to stay” in spite of the loss in Delhi, stating that it will make a strong comeback and is already preparing for the Goa Zilla Panchayat elections in 2025.
In response to the AAP’s disastrous performance in the Delhi Assembly election, where the BJP crushed the party in the hustings, Venzy claimed the AAP has accepted the Delhi people’s decision and that the party has fought against all political parties, aside from the police, ED, and others.
“Even though the AAP is no longer in power, the party still has a 44 percent vote share, which is only two percent less than the BJP’s 46 percent,” he stated.
Venzy recalled that in the 2024 Lok Sabha election, Congress South Goa Lok Sabha candidate Capt. Viriato Fernandes won thanks in large part to the AAP’s strength.
“AAP also contributed to MP Viriato’s triumph, as he is currently traveling around following his election as an MP. We also anticipate the Congress party’s cooperation,” he stated.
Venzy said the time has come to reflect on how to beat the BJP in the upcoming elections and that it is useless to play a blame game over the BJP’s wins in Haryana and Delhi because the AAP did not form an alliance with the Congress.
