PONDA: Aam Aadmi Party MLA Venzy Viegas said that AAP has provided a genuine alternative to voters in the Ponda by-election, asserting that the contest is effectively between the BJP and AAP.
He claimed that Congress candidate Dr. Ketan Bhatikar joined the party only after he could not be accommodated by the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP), and questioned the stability within Congress ranks.
“AAP has given an option to the people of Ponda. Today, the contest is between BJP and AAP. Bhatikar couldn’t be accommodated by MGP, so he joined Congress,” Viegas said.
Highlighting party loyalty, he added that AAP had two MLAs elected in 2022 and both continue to remain with the party. In contrast, he questioned how many Congress candidates had left the party over time.
“We were two AAP MLAs in 2022, today also we are in AAP. What happened with Congress candidates? How many left?” he asked.
Seeking public support, Viegas urged voters to give AAP a chance to prove its governance model.
“Give us one chance of six months. If we don’t deliver, then we won’t come to ask for votes,” he said.
