PANAJI: In a setback to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Goa, Joint Secretary Pundlik Dhargalkar has resigned from both his post and the party’s primary membership, accusing the leadership of failing to promote unity among opposition forces against the BJP.
In his resignation letter addressed to AAP State President Amit Palekar, Dhargalkar said he was not taken into confidence in key organisational decisions, including the appointment of his constituency president. He said this lack of consultation undermined efforts to build a united front to challenge what he termed the BJP’s “corrupt and divisive politics.”
“I have not been taken into confidence in deciding the President of my constituency, which I feel is necessary to unite all of us and defeat the BJP’s corrupt and divisive politics,” Dhargalkar stated, urging the leadership to “rise above petty political calculations.”
He further criticised the party for ignoring growing public calls for opposition unity, alleging that AAP’s recent approach has weakened the collective fight against BJP rule. “Goans are tired of being betrayed — they are demanding that opposition leaders act responsibly and put Goa’s interests before personal or partisan gain. Unfortunately, AAP has chosen to ignore this message, choosing instead to play spoiler,” he wrote.
Asserting that Goa “deserves better,” Dhargalkar said he remains committed to the larger cause of forming a united opposition to “stand firm against the BJP’s misgovernance.”
“My allegiance will always be to the people of Goa and their aspiration for dignity, justice, and good governance,” he concluded.
Party sources said Dhargalkar’s resignation comes amid growing internal differences within AAP’s Goa unit over organisational restructuring and alliance strategies ahead of future elections.
