Canacona: The Aam Aadmi Party has launched its Zilla Panchayat campaign in Poinguinim with a public meeting in Cotigao that drew more than 150 participants. The event doubled as a manifesto discussion where residents placed their concerns and expectations before candidate Rajesh Gaonkar.
MLA Venzy Viegas, working president Gerson Gomes, general secretary for campaign Sandesh Teleikar Dessai and joint secretary Prashant Naik attended the launch. Viegas described Gaonkar as a grassroots worker with strong local ties and urged voters to support him for what he called genuine development in Poinguinim.
Gaonkar said he would visit every household and document issues raised by residents to address them if elected. He added that Poinguinim has faced years of neglect and needs leadership that listens closely to people’s problems.
Senior AAP leaders voiced support for Gaonkar. Gomes said he represents clean and sincere politics. Teleikar Dessai said the constituency deserves development free of corruption, while Naik assured full organisational backing for the campaign.
The Cotigao launch set the stage for what the party described as its people-focused Zilla Panchayat drive in Poinguinim.
