Margao: Alarmed by the recent gang war in Margao, Benaulim MLA Capt. Venzy Viegas on Wednesday led an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) delegation to meet the Superintendent of Police, South Goa, submitting a memorandum on the “alarming rise” in violent crime.
The memorandum called for intensified police patrolling in vulnerable areas, intelligence-led preventive policing, swift investigation of violent cases, and community trust-building measures. Capt. Viegas also proposed a South Goa-wide CCTV network, offering to deploy his MLA fund for its implementation in coordination with police.
Curtorim leader Engr. Roque Virgilio Mascarenhas stressed that CCTV coverage must extend beyond the coastal belt to interior areas, while AAP Working President Gerson Gomes recounted a recent attack on him in Durga, Chinchinim, to underline the need for 24×7 police surveillance.
The delegation, which included senior leaders Prashant Naik and Mahesh Toraskar, urged the government to restore law and order to the level “seen during Manohar Parrikar’s time.”
