PONDA: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) held its “AAP MLAs Connect” programme in Ponda on February 12, where residents highlighted a series of pressing civic concerns affecting the constituency.
The event, part of a statewide outreach initiative by AAP legislators, followed an earlier programme in Panjim. Citizens from Ponda participated both in person and online, raising complaints ranging from irregular water supply and clogged drains to garbage accumulation, poor road conditions, traffic congestion, unemployment, healthcare gaps, educational challenges, and alleged administrative corruption.
Speaking at the event, MLA Capt Venzy Viegas criticised the ruling BJP, stating that despite having what he described as a “triple engine” government in Ponda, basic civic issues such as sewage, garbage management, parking, and traffic regulation remain unresolved.
MLA Engr. Cruz assured attendees that their grievances would be raised in the upcoming Assembly session. “People from Ponda and neighbouring areas came forward to present their issues. We will stand for you in the Assembly and ensure your voice is heard,” he said.
AAP Senior Vice President Sandesh Teleikar Dessai alleged that the government has only turned its attention to Ponda following the announcement of the Assembly by-election. He maintained that core problems such as garbage disposal, sewage, healthcare, and water supply continue to affect residents.
AAP leaders reiterated that, although in opposition, the party remains committed to addressing public concerns and pledged to push for solutions during the forthcoming Assembly session.
