MARGAO: Ahead of the upcoming monsoon session of the Goa Legislative Assembly, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs Captain Venzy Viegas (Benaulim) and Cruz Silva (Velim) have appealed to the people of Goa to submit questions they wish to see raised in the House. The session is scheduled to begin on July 21, and the deadline to send in questions is June 28.
The appeal is open to all citizens of Goa, including residents of Benaulim and Velim constituencies, former and current government employees, and Right to Information (RTI) activists. The MLAs said they are committed to voicing public concerns in the Assembly and invited active public participation in the legislative process.
MLA Venzy Viegas informed that questions will be raised across various departments, especially those under the jurisdiction of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant—such as Personal, Vigilance, General Administration, Education, Planning and Statistics, Information and Publicity, Legal Metrology, and Skill and Entrepreneurship Development. Questions will also target departments under Power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar, including Electricity, Renewable Energy, Housing, and Housing Board, as well as portfolios under Social Welfare Minister Subhash Phal Desai, such as Social Welfare, River Navigation, Archives and Archaeology, and Disability Empowerment.
He added that questions pertaining to other departments would also be submitted, depending on inputs received from the public. Highlighting the role of RTI activists, Viegas said that their contributions could help in drawing attention to issues often buried in bureaucracy and facilitate access to relevant data through the Assembly.
Despite having only two seats in the Assembly, AAP MLAs reaffirmed their commitment to being the voice of the people of Goa. Both Viegas and Silva promised to raise critical public issues during the session and hold the government accountable on matters that affect citizens directly.
