SIOLIM: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) accused Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Siolim MLA Delilah Lobo of “five years of betrayal and neglect” that has left large parts of Siolim without regular drinking water supply.
AAP Goa Joint Secretary Pujan Malvankar, leading a delegation of residents from Zor Vaddo, Chapora and Anjuna, gheraoed the Assistant Engineer at the Mapusa PWD water works and submitted a memorandum demanding urgent intervention.
Malvankar alleged that water pipelines meant for households were being diverted to hotels and luxury villas, while local residents were forced to depend on costly private tankers. He blamed the BJP government, claiming that even when the PWD was under the direct charge of CM Sawant, “gross mismanagement thrived under political patronage.”
“Ordinary Goans are left high and dry while unauthorised oversized connections flourish. Despite repeated pleas, MLA Delilah Lobo has failed to act. Their silence proves they stand with commercial lobbies, not the people,” Malvankar charged.
Residents expressed frustration over repeated promises not being fulfilled. “They said we would get tanker water, but it came only once. We are being forced to spend thousands on private tankers,” one Zor Vaddo resident said.
AAP has demanded equitable water distribution, a crackdown on illegal connections, and restoration of regular household supply. Malvankar warned that if the authorities, including PWD Minister Subhash Phal Dessai and MLA Lobo, fail to respond, AAP along with Siolim residents will step up their agitation.
