RIVONA: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has called for immediate financial aid and long-term safety reforms following the death of two brothers in a tragic electrocution incident at Rivona on August 27.
AAP Velim MLA Engr Cruz D’Silva, accompanied by senior party leaders, visited the residence of the victims — Rajendra Gaonkar (40) and Mohandas Gaonkar (46) — on Saturday to offer condolences and solidarity to the grieving family.
The delegation included AAP Goa Vice President Engr Roque Mascarenhas, AAP Joint Secretary Prashant Naik, AAP ST Wing Vice President Vinay Velip, along with party volunteers. The leaders met the mother and relatives of the deceased, assuring them of the party’s full support in their pursuit of justice.
Addressing the media after the visit, D’Silva stressed that the government must not delay compensation to the family, who have been left devastated by the sudden loss. “This tragedy has left a family shattered. It is the duty of the government to extend immediate support. Compensation and safety reforms must go hand in hand,” he said.
Party leaders also demanded stricter accountability in cases of negligence and highlighted the urgent need for preventive measures to avoid such fatal incidents in the future.
AAP reaffirmed its commitment to continue standing with the Gaonkar family and to pursue justice on their behalf while pressing the authorities for both relief and reform.
