AAP firmly stood with the striking Anganwadi workers as the Party’s top leadership even served them dinner during the late hours of the night. The Anganwadi workers and helpers, have been on an indefinite strike since the last six days, had decided to remain at the Azad maidan at night to put pressure on the Govt to accept their demands for a salary hike and other pending issues.
It is shocking that women workers who play such a key part in Goan Society were forced to strike for a week and even had to stay the night. This goes on to show that the Sawant Govt doesn’t really care about Goans and their daily needs. No one from the Govt has even acknowledged the strike. The fact of the matter is that the BJP knows it doesn’t need the support of common Goans as they are used to forming Govts by just buying and selling MLAs.
Anganwadi workers have been striking for the past 6 days demanding better pay and other facilities from the Govt. As of yet no person from the Govt has met them even though they have camped outside the CMs residence. Seeing the state of the workers and how they were suffering in their protest at night the AAP leaders went to Azaad Maidan and supported them by providing them food during their over night Vigil.
“The demands of the Aanganwadi workers are justified. But why has no one from the Govt come to meet them? This is a very sad day that women from Goa have to spend the night at Azad Maidan. The BJp’s commitment to WOmen stops at fancy ad campaigns but they dont even want to support Anganwadi workers!” Said AAP Goa Leader Adv Amit Palekar.
“We stand with the striking Aanganwadi workers. The moment we found out our sisters on strike were spending the night we came to provide them food” said AAP Goa VP Adv Surel Tilve.
“The BJP Govt has done so much injustice that every Goenkar has come to the streets for their rights!” said Valmiki Naik AAP Goa VP
