SANKHALI/VALPOI: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday intensified its outreach programmes in North Goa, targeting constituencies of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Health Minister Vishwajit Rane.
In Sankhali, the party’s ‘Goencho Gazali’ initiative saw AAP leaders interact with local residents, vendors, hotel owners and workers. People expressed frustration over poor roads, lack of jobs and inflation. “Goans are tired of hollow promises and want a government that delivers real development,” AAP vice president Sunil Singnapurkar said, adding that people were ready for “new politics of honesty and accountability.”
Chetan Kamat, also a vice president of AAP, said unemployment was forcing youth to migrate, while Salman Khan, youth wing leader, criticised Sawant for failing to improve law and order and road conditions despite holding both the Home and PWD portfolios.
Meanwhile, in Valpoi, AAP leaders continued their #BJPCheBurak campaign, highlighting the “collapsed” condition of the Nagargao road in Velus. The stretch, filled with potholes and rainwater, was described as a “death trap” by locals. “How will an ambulance pass? Pregnant women and senior citizens are suffering,” Singnapurkar said, demanding that contractors be held accountable.
Chetan Kamat alleged that Health Minister Vishwajit Rane only visits Valpoi during elections. Youth leader Rohan Naik added that BJP’s “commission raj” was responsible for poor-quality roads that crumble every monsoon. He demanded urgent repairs before Ganesh Chaturthi.
AAP said the response from locals in both constituencies reflected growing anger against the BJP and a demand for change.
