VASCO: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Vasco unit on Thursday expressed deep concern over the spate of unnatural deaths at the BITS Pilani K.K. Birla Goa campus and demanded a judicial probe headed by a retired high court judge to investigate the circumstances.
Addressing the media, AAP Vasco leader Adv. Sunil Loran said the series of tragedies had shaken the student community and raised serious questions about campus safety and support systems. “In the last nine months, we have seen multiple student deaths at BITS Pilani Goa. This is not just tragic, it is alarming. These incidents highlight serious gaps in student welfare and the institution’s responsibility to provide a safe and supportive environment,” Loran stated.
He stressed the need for accountability. “We demand a transparent judicial probe led by a retired high court judge. Such a probe must identify the underlying reasons behind these tragedies — whether it is academic pressure, mental health issues, or lack of proper support systems. It must also examine whether the government has taken adequate measures to address student safety in educational institutions,” he said.
Loran also called for systemic changes to prevent such incidents in the future. “Mental health support must be enhanced with accessible and confidential counseling services. Safety protocols and emergency response plans should be implemented effectively. Most importantly, a supportive and inclusive campus environment is needed, where students feel safe to seek help without fear or stigma,” he emphasised.
Expressing solidarity with the grieving families, the AAP Vasco leader said, “We extend our deepest condolences to the families who have lost their children. The institution and government must provide them adequate support and compensation during this difficult time. Justice for these families cannot be delayed.”
He assured that the party would continue to stand by students and parents. “AAP is committed to ensuring that the voices of students and their families are heard. We will monitor the situation and continue to push for accountability and systemic reforms to safeguard student welfare at BITS Pilani Goa and across all educational institutions,” Loran said.
