PANAJI: Arvind Kejriwal-led party leader Amit Palekar responded to GPPC President Amit Patkar’s assertion that the Congress will strengthen the party in all 40 constituencies, implying a fallout with the AAP, by saying that his party is prepared for a third front.
According to Palekar, people want the two parties to work together, which is why Congressman Viriato Fernandes was able to win the South Goa Lok Sabha seat.
“We will back the alliance, but AAP is prepared to form a third front in Goa if statements similar to Patkar’s persist,” Palekar declared.
Throughout the day, AAP MLA Venzy Viegas criticized Congress for allegedly approving a massive housing project in south Goa run by Bhutani Infra at the expense of the environment.
The project was approved by Congress in 2007 and 2011, and according to Viegas, the AAP “will become a part of this sin because it is in alliance with the party.”
In response to the statement of Congress President Amit Patkar that he will strengthen Congress in all 40 constituencies, whether the alliance is broken, the AAP President replied that the people of Goa want an alliance and going by people’s aspirations if required they won’t hesitate to form a third front.
