PANAJI: The Aam Aadmi Party’s (#BJPCheBurak) door-to-door signature campaign against poor road conditions in Goa has seen an overwhelming response, with over 5,000 citizens signing in just two days of its launch.
The campaign, which began in Saligao on September 4, has rapidly spread across constituencies including Porvorim, Taleigao, Poriem, Mapusa, Bicholim, Mayem, Priol, Thivim and Marcaim in North Goa, and Curchorem, Curtorim, Margao, Quepem, Sanguem, Savordem and Fatorda in South Goa. AAP leaders said the initiative is aimed at holding the BJP government accountable for road infrastructure neglect and demanding immediate repairs to prevent further accidents and fatalities.
AAP Goa President Adv. Amit Palekar said that every pothole symbolised the failure of the BJP government. “We met young people, parents, senior citizens and persons with disabilities, and everyone shared how dangerous roads are affecting their daily lives. The sheer number of people who came forward to sign proves Goans will no longer stay silent. They want the government to act now,” Palekar said.
AAP General Secretary (Organisation) Shrikrishna Parab, who has been leading volunteers across constituencies, said the response has been “overwhelming.” “People are tired of false promises and shoddy repairs. Many told us how accidents and emergencies worsen because of unsafe roads. This campaign is not just about collecting signatures, it is about amplifying people’s voices and pressuring the government to put citizens first, not contractors,” Parab stated.
With thousands already participating, AAP has said the movement will continue until road safety becomes a priority and repairs are carried out across Goa.
