VASCO: An abandoned bag containing a valuable silver item was discovered at Vasco Railway Station, prompting swift action from the Railway Police led by PI Anand Shirodkar, PI Amarnath Passi , PSI Krishna Talpi and RPF official Rohit Dixit .
At around 5:30 p.m., during routine patrolling at the station, personnel from the Vasco Railway Police Station along with RPF staff noticed an unattended bag wrapped in a bedsheet. Upon inspection, the bag was found to contain a white metal object that appeared to be made of silver.
To ascertain its authenticity and value, officials sought assistance from Shagun Jewellers, who examined the item and confirmed it to be a silver “Chattra” (traditional umbrella) of 87.50% purity. The object weighed approximately 6.4 kilograms and was valued at ₹5,37,600.
The silver umbrella was secured and attached under a formal panchanama as per Section 106 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act, 2023. Further investigation is underway to trace the origin of the item and its rightful owner.
