AC blast stalls banking operations at SBI Agonda branch

CANACONA: A Shofrtcircuit caused AC blast in the Inverter Room destroying Wire/cables of Banking System of State Bank of India branch of Agonda in Canacona late last night.
The AC blast came to light when the bank was opened on Monday morning with fire-burning smell and smoke came out as the banks shutters were opened.
It was found the split AC which is kept on to keep the Bank Operating Systems on for the weeked night went up in blast almost causing ashes in the UPS/Inverter room. Though no systems were seen burnt the cabling wire were reduced to ashes, while in swift reaction, the main supply was switched-off by the Electricity staff, who field office is situated in the other corner of the Agonda Panchcyat building.
Speaking to reporters, Agonda SBI Branch Manager Rahul Kumar informed that no banking systems are affected in the AC indoor unit blast, but it has caused panic in SBI Agonda. ‘The banking operations have been suspended as of now, as the power supply is presently shutdown on the advice of the electricity officials to avoid any further sparks. Once the power supply is restored bank will function normally.’
However, contrary to what the Branch Manager says, dozens of unaware bank customers who comes for their banking works on seeing the status of the bank premises hope it will be a wonder if services in the bank are restored in the next two days.
Meanwhile, customers were also irked that the only SBI ATM located just outside the SBI Agonda branch is non-funtional for the last more than two months, and inspite of hundreds of people visiting the ATM, SBI authorities have still not taken any action to respore the ATM services. The ATM is non-functional for the last 75 days informed angry customers who oftens comes and goes back dejected and with the bank itself is down with the fire incident, hundreds of SBI Agonda customers will be kept in the lurch for any of their works in the coming days.
