PANAJI: The Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) has registered an FIR against a public servant and a panch member of the Santa Cruz Village Panchayat in connection with an alleged garbage labour payment scam.
According to ACB officials, the case has been filed under Sections 7, 7A, and 11 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, and Sections 314, 316(5), 318, 319, and 61 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The complaint, lodged by Inacio Domnic Pereira, alleges irregularities and misuse of funds in payments made towards garbage collection labour under the panchayat’s jurisdiction.
Pereira described the FIR as “a victory for all the taxpayers of Santa Cruz,” urging for strict action and transparency in the investigation.
The ACB is probing the alleged financial discrepancies and has sought relevant records from the panchayat to determine the scale of the malpractice. Further investigation is underway.
