PORVORIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today informed the House that a fly-over will be constructed at Dhargal in the wake of rising accidents.
Mandrem MLA Jit Arolkar raised concerns about NH 66 at Dhargal as it become an accident-prone zone while crossing, he has asked about the status of the elevated corridor and underpass proposed by the government.
“The proposal for construction of elevated corridor at this location is processed under Road Safety Annual Plan 2024-25 to MoRTH for sanction. However, the traffic calming measures are in place at the location.,” said Sawant
He further said that the latest Road Safety Committee meeting was held on 19-06-2023. In this meeting, 33 accident-prone zones and 23 black spots were identified.
“A circular has been sent to PWD, Transport, and the Collector, and action has been initiated,” stated CM .
The residents of Dhargal have demanded the urgent construction of a flyover at the notorious Don Khamb intersection. The locals have raised concerns about the persistently chaotic traffic situation at the junction, emphasizing the need for a flyover to ease congestion and enhance road safety.
