Mandrem: Mandrem police have arrested a 25-year-old man from Punjab after he was allegedly caught with 146.50 grams of charas during a narcotics raid on Tuesday night at Sachhabhatle near a chapel in Mandrem.
The offence has been registered as Mandrem Police Station Crime No. 103/2025 under Section 20(b)(ii)(B) of the NDPS Act following a complaint lodged by PSI Archana Sharma.
Police said they acted on specific intelligence and conducted the raid between 8.30 pm and 8.45 pm on November 18. During the operation, the accused, identified as Akash Adwal from Fatehgarh Sahib in Punjab, was allegedly found carrying a blackish sticky substance suspected to be charas, valued at ₹1,46,500.
Officers also seized a mobile phone with two IMEI numbers and a SIM card during the panchanama. The accused was placed under arrest at 12.44 am on November 19 after police completed all legal procedures in line with Supreme Court guidelines. Further investigation has been handed over to PSI Paresh Kale.
