VALPOI: The accused involved in the temple theft case at Shree Brahmadev Devasthan, Brahmakarmali, Valpoi, has been convicted by the JMFC, Sattari.
The incident occurred on the night of May 27, 2025, when unknown culprits broke open the lock of the temple’s donation box located in front of the garbhakud and allegedly stole around ₹30,000. An offence was registered the next day at Valpoi Police Station under Sections 305, 331(3), 331(4), and 238 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023, vide FIR No. 34/2025.
During the investigation, the accused, Vishal Govind Zarmekar, a resident of Nanoda, Sattari, was apprehended within 24 hours of the FIR registration and arrested on May 29, 2025. The case was subsequently chargesheeted before the Court of JMFC, Sattari within 44 days.
On September 1, 2025, the accused pleaded guilty and was convicted. The court sentenced him to one year of imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹500, to be paid within a month. In case of default, he will undergo 15 days of simple imprisonment.
The swift conviction highlights the strong coordination between the Police and the Judiciary, enabling prompt justice in the case.
