HONDA (SATTARI): The Automobile Corporation of Goa Ltd workers have given notice of a five-day strike from October 18 against unfair labour practices adopted by the Management.
“In accordance with the provision containing sub – Section (1) of Section 22 of Industrial dispute Act 1947, we wish to bring to your notice that our Union has decided to go on 5 days strike from 18/10/2021 to 22/10/2021 to protest against unfair labour practice adopted by the management,” he said.
The notice says that the Management has employed a large number of contract/migrant workers in the perennial nature of work and is not paying them equal wages for equal work.
“Management is not resolving the long pending grievances of our members. Management is not implementing the provisions of earlier settlements signed with the Union,” they said.
According to workers, the Management has adopted unfair labour practices are – Illegal block closure for last four years; Reduction in canteen facility like cancelling healthy items from lunch; Reduction in transport facility; Change in-service condition thereby reducing PL entitled to each worker, for example, those having 300 leaves will be reduced to 100 leaves; Non-provision of raincoat and rainy shoes for the year 2020 as per the settlement; Illegal/unjustified shifting of all permanent workers from a plant I to plant II.
They said that plant I mainstream is operated by contract workers. No confirmed workers of the company are engaged in the production area. It is illegal and unjustified and violates the provision contract labour (abolition and regulation) act and the Industrial dispute Act 1947.
The other grievances are Violation of Settlement non-payment of festival advance for the year 2020 of Rs.10,000/- has to be given to all workers before Ganesh Chaturthi; Illegal and Unjustified layoff from 01/10/2020 to 13/10/2020 i.e. 13 days and Illegal salary deduction made by the company.
“As a pressure tactics management have deducted office-bearer (Protected Workers) salary though they were present in the factory is nothing but deliberating act of Unfair Labour practice by Management,” they said.
