PANAJI: A 41-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh was taken into custody by the Goa Police’s Crime Branch for allegedly making an escort website.
Section 67 of the Information Technology (IT) Act, Section 6 of the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, and Sections 4 and 5 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act (ITP Act) are the charges against the accused, who the police say is Yogesh Kumar from Ghaziabad.
After apprehending the culprit, the authorities confiscated his CPU and transported him to Goa.
According to the police, this is the third arrest in the case. Earlier on November 10, two more were taken into custody from Madanapalle, Andhra Pradesh. They were identified as Mohammad Mohebbulla, 30, from Gurgaon, Haryana, and Syed Usman, 54, from Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh.
According to police sources, Rahul, also known as Vijay, is in Vihar, Gujarat, while the other primary suspects, Aman and Jitender, are reportedly on the run and their whereabouts is listed as Delhi.
Because the websites were run at the Calangute property registered in his wife’s name, the position of a police officer is also being scrutinized.
The accused posted pornographic images of women to the escort website https://www.safewalkgoa.com. Additionally, they included a phone number on the website, which clients used. Customers confirmed that the accused worked with other agents to complete deals.
The police claimed to have taken down the website www.safewalkgoa.com, but it is still up and running. Instead, it reroutes users to https://www.vipescortingoa.com, which provides the identical services.
According to investigations, the defendants arranged transactions to enable these services, and clients paid using cash, Google Pay, or the Paytm app. In exchange for their involvement, the accused received commissions.
Additionally, it was found that the defendants ran comparable escort service websites in Bengaluru, Chennai, and other significant Indian cities.
To find other people connected to the network, the inquiry is still in progress.
