PONDA: Even as Kavlem Panchayat declared all scrapyards are illegal the action against scrapyards is progressing at snails pace.
The villagers in residential area of Dhavali are very much concern about huge heaps and remains of debris of scrapyard burnt in major fire recently which are not cleared at Dhavali despite posing risk in monsoon. The locals urged Police, deputy collector, pollution board and health department to take suitable action into matter before untoward incident report in monsoon.
Locals fear with scrapyard lost its roof in fire the empty barrels and other material may lead to breeding ground for mosquitoes and other disease and may lead to outbreak of Maleria in residential area in monsoon .
It may recall that Following massive fire to Dhavali Scrapyard on 5 May,the locals in special gramsabha has demanded with government to clear all illegal scrapyards at Dhavlim.
As monsoon round the corner the Dhavali Locals residing in area are worried over remains of scrapyard burnt in fire may invite health hazards, Malaria like disease in rainy season in the residential area.
It may be recalled that in a major fire on May 5 one of scrapyard at Dhavali caught major fire and following this NH was blocked for traffic for three days and locals also forced to breath polluted air emitting from burning of chemical,plastic and other metals. Locals now fear for outbreak of disease in monsoon at scrapyards.
