VASCO: Social activist Xencor Polgi on Saturday afternoon, dumped a sack full of beer bottles outside the Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) while demanding action on drinking activities from elected ward councillors and MLAs.
“We have made several requests to the authorities on the illegalities, but they seem to be silent on all these activities. We have been conducting so many cleanliness drives, but the beer bottles don’t seem to reduce because these activities are going on,” he said.
He added the people drink and dump beer bottles near schools and even religious structures.
“We request the elected councillors to have dust bins immediately and request the police for additional patrolling. It is the responsibility of every elected councillor and MLAs to know what is happening in their area and keep a tab on illegal and anti-social activities in every ward and constituency,” said Polgi.
