PANAJI: With Monday recording 38 deaths, highest on any given day, the State may be heading for a lockdown if the Health Minister Vishwajit Rane’s tweet is any indication.
Nine deaths were at South Goa District Hospital, Margao, 23 deatshs at Goa Medical College, two were brought dead to Hospicio, one brought dead to Asilo, two death’s at South Goa private hospital and
01 death at North Goa private hospital.
“Let’s unitedly fight this pandemic and work towards bringing back normalcy in the state under the supervision of Secretary Health, Dir. DHS & Medical Superintendent of NGDH” tweeted Health Minister Vishwajit Rane.
He said that in view of the surge in deaths due to COVID-19, he shall be holding an emergency meeting with the CM Dr. Pramod Sawant to deliberate on what stringent measures can be put in place.
“In addition to the measures, Goa definitely needs to go under lockdown on lines of the other states like Maharashtra & Karnataka for a particular period. More than economic activities, the lives of the people matter to us,” he stated.
“I am confident that CM will support us on this and we are able to save precious lives. I will be discussing the same on top priority. The Government is doing its best, but it is up to the citizens also to follow all the SOPs,” he said.
