CANACONA: After dilly-dallying for two days, Canacona Shigmosthav Mandal announced the winners of the different categories of floats held in the Canacona Shigmosthav parade held on Tuesday.
In the main attraction of the Chitrarath category, Adpai Yuvak Sangh is adjudged as the best amongst the 17 Chitraraths who participated in the Canacona leg of Shigmosthav Floats winning the Rs.54,000/- cash award. SHREE SARSWATI KALA AVISHKAR DAG PONDA (2nd place cash award of Rs.30,000/-, Shree Sateri Yuvak Mandal (3rd place Rs.25000/-, Jai Santoshi Maa Khorlim (IV-Rs.20000) and Hot Sports Group (5th place-Rs.15000/-), respectively, in Chitrarath competition. Gajanan Yuva Sangh Sanvordem, C.S.C Boys, Savordem Chitrarath, Young Boys of Shiroda, Sai Kala Mandal, Bramhakumari Prajapita Khalwadem, Shiv Jayanti Samaroha Samittee, Shantadurga Prassann and Dambab Prasann were awarded Consolation prizes of Rs.5000/- each.
In Romtamel Category Suyog Shigmosthav Mandal, Adpai took the first prize cash award of Rs.35,000/-, Chandreshwar Bhuthnath Shigmotsav Mandal -Quepem (2nd place-Rs.20,000/-), Kakoda Shigmotsav Mandal, Curchorem had to be content with 3rd place with Rs.15000/- cash, Shree Sateri Pissani Shigmotsav Mandal Dharbandhora 4th place Cash Rs.10,000/- and Jijau Mahila Romatamel, the only all-women romtamel from Canacona municipality is adjudged at 5th place and awarded cash of Rs.9,000/-.
In the Fancy Dress Jr Category group, the depiction of Kathakali won first place (Rs.2000/-, Shivaji Maharaj (2nd- Rs.1000/-) and Dhangar (3rd- Rs.500/-),while in Senior Fancy dress depiction of ‘Devi’ came first (Rs.4000/-), Hanuman (2nd place-Rs.3000/-) and Rakhano (3rd place-Rs.2000/-).
In the Folk Dance category Titto Sports Club Poinguinim got the first prize of Rs.17,000/-, Dambab (2nd- Rs.12500/-), Shanta Durga (3rd- Rs.10000/-), Arya Durga (4th place- Rs.8000/-) Betal Sanskrutik Mhalwada (5th –Rs.5000/-) Consolation prizes of Rs. 4000/- each were awarded to Bal Bhavan Canacona, Adhi Purush Mhalwada and Fugadi in folk dance category.-
