Agacaim: Agacaim Police have achieved a major breakthrough in a murder case with the arrest of the accused from Bihar, following a swift and coordinated inter-state operation.
The case was registered on the basis of a complaint filed by Shyambabu Das (22), a labourer residing at Mercurim, Tiswadi, Goa, originally from Samastipur, Bihar, who alleged that his brother was murdered in the early hours of 22 December 2025.
According to police, the accused Anish Kumar, a native of Bihar and presently residing at Mercurim, Agacaim, intentionally assaulted the complainant’s brother, forcibly restrained him, and deliberately rolled him into a well, resulting in his death. After confirming that the victim had expired, the accused fled from the spot.
Based on the complaint and analysis of CCTV footage, Agacaim Police registered Crime No. 63/2025 under Sections 103 and 238 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) on 27 December 2025.
Acting on reliable information that the accused had fled to his native place in Bihar, PI Anant A. Gaonkar promptly formed a special team under his supervision, comprising PSI Rushikesh Raikar, PC Deepsantosh Parwar, PC Raju Attar and PC Sanjay Varak, and deputed them to Bihar.
During the investigation, the police team conducted enquiries with the assistance of Vidhyapati Police Station and, using technical surveillance, traced the accused’s mobile phone location. Based on this information, the team proceeded to Katasa, Singhwara, Darbhanga district, where, with the help of Singhwara Police, they successfully apprehended and arrested Anish Kumar (20) on 31 December 2025.
The accused was brought to Agacaim Police Station on 01 January 2026 after obtaining transit remand from the Assistant Chief Judicial Magistrate–VII, Darbhanga. He was later produced before the JMFC, Merces, who remanded him to four days of police custody.
