OLD GOA: The Save Old Goa Action Committee today said that they will not back out from their agitation untold the illegal structure in the heritage area is razed to the ground.
“It has been 8 days now that the license revocation order has been out, but there has not been any action from the state government. We will not back out from our agitation until the structure is demolished,” said SOGAC Coordinator Peter Viegas.
He further said that the illegal construction in Old Goa and the people against it is just one example of people’s power winning over illegalities.
“There may be several such cases in Goa, and we don’t want to keep taking to the streets to have our demands fulfilled,” he said.
The committee also claimed that there should be a master plan demarcating a buffer zone around heritage sites.
SOGAC also claimed that the fraudulent permission/licences can be revoked when the structure is fully completed, and that is the stage for demolition and not revocation.
