Canacona: Police in Agonda have registered a First Information Report (FIR) and detained one person following a devastating fire at a seasonal tourism property in the early hours of Wednesday.
The fire, which claimed a life and destroyed another tourism property, is believed to have originated from the beachside property operated by Shivling Chalwadi.
The arrested individual has been identified as the owner of the property and has since been released on bail.
The incident, which has left one person dead and significant property damage, has prompted extensive investigations.
The cause of the fire remains unknown, although a forensic team has collected samples from the site for further analysis.
Firefighters battled the blaze for over seven hours before managing to contain it with the assistance of four fire tenders.
Officials have also requested the owners of the affected properties to submit a list of their losses caused by the fire for assessment on Friday. The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing, with authorities working to determine the source of the tragic incident.
