CANACONA: A 54 year old woman travelling as a pillion rider with her husband fell from the running scooter, while opening umbrella to avoid the sudden torrential rains suffers severe head injuries on Friday afternoon, later dies while undergoing treatment at GMC Bambolim in the wee hours of Saturday.
According to Canacona police, Guelhermina Fernandes, 54 resident of Agonda (Canacona) expired while undergoing treatment in ward 120 of GMC Bambolim.
Police further informed that the deceased Fernandes was proceeding back home (Agonda) from Canacona on a Scooter driven by her husband and when reached at Bokdamol, Agonda suddenly encountered heavy rains accompanied by strong wind. She had just opened her umbrella but due to heavily blowing wind entering her umbrella she lost her control and fell on the tar road from the running scooter.
Guelhermina, suffered severe head injuries due to the fall and began to bleed profusely, losing substantial amounts of blood, before She was shifted to CHC Canacona by 108 ambulance and thereafter transported to South Goa District Hospital, Margao. From SGFH she was referred to GMC Bambolim and admitted in ward no.120. The deceased who was unconscious throughout failed to regain her consciousness and succumbed to her injuries during treatment early Saturday morning.
The body is preserved at GMC morgue for further inquest panchnama and medico legal formalities after Canacona police registered a MV Accident. PSI Ramdas Doifode is conducting further enquiry under section 194 BNSS 2023. Guelhermina is survived by her husband, a married daughter and Son, who has recently gone abroad for employment. The The final rites are slated for Tuesday evening at Agonda church.
