CANACONA: A 29-year-old man hailing from Agra, Uttar Pradesh, was arrested on Monday evening for allegedly possessing drugs worth Rs 4.31 lakh at Colomb in Canacona.
According to Canacona police inspector Pravin Gawas, the accused, identified as Deepu Singh, who is presently employed at a restaurant in Ourem, Palolem, was caught red-handed with a substance suspected to be charas. The arrest was made during a search operation conducted near a mosque at Colomb by a police team led by PSI Vishal Velip.
Police have registered the case under Section 20(b)(ii)(B) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. The accused has been taken into police custody for further investigation.
