PANAJI: The Captain of Ports Department has announced seasonal restrictions in Goa as part of safety measures under the Goa Ports Rules, 1983, with the onset of the annual foul season.
Effective 00:00 hrs on May 21, 2025, the Aguada Sand Bar will be closed to all inland traffic vessels. The restriction will remain in place until further notice, as rough sea conditions during this period pose navigational risks.
In addition, from June 1, 2025, several key navigational aids—namely the lighthouses at Malim, Campal, Tejo Front, Tejo Rear, Reis Magos, and the Aguada Beacon—will cease functioning temporarily. These measures are part of routine seasonal protocols and will remain in effect until the end of the foul season or until further notice.
The foul season in Goa, as defined under the Goa Ports Rules, spans from May 21 to September 15 each year. Mariners and vessel operators have been advised to plan accordingly and adhere strictly to the guidelines issued by port authorities to ensure safety.
For further updates, stakeholders are advised to stay in touch with the Captain of Ports Department.
