Curtorim: Agxem Sports Club delivered a dominant performance to defeat Sporting Club Virabhat 5-2 and book their place in the semifinals of the 2nd Caniza Peixoto Memorial Football Tournament, organised by the Black Arrow Boys Agxem and played at the St. Alex Church ground, Curtorim.
Maxiwal Castanha starred for Agxem SC, netting a brilliant brace in the 22nd and 42nd minutes. He was well supported by teammates Michael Paes (5th min), Agnelo Gomes (32nd min), and Prinson Martins (41st min), each of whom found the back of the net to seal the commanding victory.
Sporting Club Virabhat managed to pull two goals back through Ryce Fernandes in the 30th minute and Sydney Fernandes in the 44th minute, but it wasn’t enough to stop the Agxem side’s charge.
Despite the loss, Jones Fernandes of Sporting Club Virabhat impressed with his efforts and was named Man of the Match. The award was presented by Mario Gomes, Secretary of Agxem Sports Club.
With this convincing win, Agxem SC march confidently into the semifinal round, keeping their championship hopes alive.
