PANAJI: With state assembly elections in Goa due early next year, BJP national chief JP Nadda has asked party unit to have an outreach program for the minority community.
Nadda also announced that the BJP will contest the 2022 assembly polls under Pramod Sawant as the Chief Minister’s face.
“I am very optimistic and happy the way party has progressed in last four and half years; BJP party in Goa has taken a big leap from 2017 till now; I have advised MLAs and Party to reach out to minority community,” said Nadda addressing the press conference in the city
He further said that CM Pramod Sawant has done a very good job and under his leadership, all-round development has taken place in the state.
“We’re going forward with him (as CM face). In BJP, Parliamentary Board makes the official declaration but there is no need to think about any other name,” he said
He further said that he has met Cabinet ministers, MLAs, MPs and party functionaries at different levels and held detailed discussions. As far as the party is concerned, I am very optimistic. Goa BJP has taken a big leap in the past 4.5 years: said Nadda
“During my interactions with ministers & MLAs, I found that the MLAs are very optimistic & filled with confidence. A huge number of leaders have joined BJP from Congress. I held detailed discussions with them. They’ve praised BJP’s working that makes me more optimistic,” the BJP Chief said
When asked on family raj politics in Goa and whether, the BJP will issue tickets to such people, Nadda said that two tickets to family is dependent upon the election committee of of the BJP.
Nadda further said that despite COVID, Goa has continued to achieve its development targets with a proactive approach. “100% rural electrification, and a lot of work on infrastructure and connectivity has been done. Work on International Airport will be completed by 2022,” Nadda added
“Goa, among small states, has done an excellent job in vaccination. We will complete the first dose till 31st July for everyone. By 31st October, all second doses will also be completed,”the BJP National President informed
He said, “According to NITI Aayog’s reports, Goa is No. 1 in growth in per capita income. On the human development index, Goa stands 3rd. Goa has also jumped from 7th to 4th in economic activities, a clear sign of development under the governance of Pramod Sawant,”
Speaking on snoopgate, Nadda said that it is baseless and issueless. The Opposition led by Congress has got no issue which is related to people. That is why they raise such issue.
Meanwhile, Nadda visited the Mangueshi Temple in North Goa, after which he participated in a tree plantation programme with Sadguru Brahmeshanandacharya Swami at Tapobhumi, Kundai. He also visited the vaccination centre at Don Bosco High School in Panaji.
