New Delhi: On the occasion of Diwali, Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal AP Singh visited the Ladakh sector on Monday to celebrate the festival with personnel of the Indian Air Force (IAF) and the Indian Army stationed along the border.
During his visit, the Air Chief interacted with officers and soldiers deployed in high-altitude areas and praised their unwavering dedication to protecting the nation’s frontiers in some of the most challenging terrain and weather conditions. He also conveyed Diwali greetings and appreciation for their professionalism and spirit of service.
The Indian Air Force, in a statement, said that Air Chief Marshal Singh commended the courage and commitment of the troops who continue to uphold national security in extreme environments. He lauded their readiness and determination in ensuring the country’s borders remain secure throughout the year.
Meanwhile, Air Marshal Awadhesh Kumar Bharti, Deputy Chief of the Air Staff, visited the Siachen Glacier to celebrate Diwali with soldiers posted at one of the world’s highest battlefields. He also met residents of Terchey village near Thoise, sharing festive greetings and interacting with the local community.
Adding to the celebrations, Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta marked the festival with Indian Army personnel at an event organised by the Fire & Fury Corps at Rinchen Auditorium in Leh. The gathering was attended by Lieutenant General Hitesh Bhalla, General Officer Commanding 14 Corps, along with senior officers including Major General Praveen Chhabra, Brigadier Umesh Parab, and Brigadier Ajay Katoch.
Extending greetings on behalf of the people of Ladakh, the Lt Governor praised the soldiers for their courage, sacrifice, and dedication in serving the nation under harsh climatic conditions. He said their service in protecting the borders exemplifies the highest traditions of the Indian Armed Forces.
