New Delhi: A week after the tragic Air India crash in Ahmedabad, Gujarat Health Minister Rushikesh Patel announced that DNA samples of 210 victims have been matched with their families, and 187 bodies have been handed over. The remaining mortal remains will be released soon.
In response to the crash, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has issued draft rules titled ‘Aircraft (Demolition of Obstructions) Rules, 2025’ to prevent future incidents. The rules aim to regulate structures exceeding height limits near airports.
Property owners violating these limits will receive notices and must submit structure details within 60 days. Failure to comply could lead to demolition or trimming. Officials are also empowered to conduct physical verifications and escalate cases to the DGCA and District Collector if necessary.
The public has 20 days to submit objections or suggestions before the draft is finalised.
