PANAJI; Air India will suspend its flights to Goa (GOX) through the end of the Summer 2025 schedule, as part of a larger network realignment driven by ongoing aircraft shortages.
The airline confirmed that several of its Boeing 787 Dreamliners remain grounded, forcing a cutback in international services, particularly across Europe and North America.
Starting August 2025, Air India will begin a new three-times-weekly service to London Heathrow, prompting a reduction in flights between Bengaluru (BLR) and Heathrow from daily to four times per week.
The move reflects the carrier’s growing preference for Heathrow over Gatwick, due to better connectivity, higher yields, and operational efficiencies through consolidation.
Goa and Amritsar (ATQ), both popular among diaspora and leisure travellers, were already impacted by earlier suspensions.
Those routes will now remain paused at least until October 25, 2025—the end of the summer schedule. The airline cited not only aircraft availability but also higher operating costs and geopolitical challenges, including restricted airspace over Pakistan, which continues to affect the viability of eastbound flights.
The strategic shift underscores Air India’s efforts to streamline its widebody operations and prioritize core markets amid persistent fleet constraints.
