PANAJI: Renowned vocalist and musical maestro Ajit Kadkade was conferred with the prestigious ‘Gomant Vibhushan’ award by Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, who hailed him as a cultural icon whose voice “echoes the soul of Goa across continents.”
Speaking on behalf of the people of Goa, the Chief Minister said, “We are proud to present the Gomant Vibhushan to Shri Ajit Kadkade, a musical legend who has dedicated over four decades to Indian Classical and Devotional music.”
Born in Bicholim and trained under the legendary Pt. Jitendra Abhisheki, Kadkade is known for his soulful renditions of ragas, bhakti sangeet, natyageet, and abhangs in multiple languages including Konkani, Marathi, Hindi, and Kannada. His discography spans nearly 200 albums, with performances across India, Europe, the US, and the Gulf.
“His life is a shining example of how one can stay rooted in Goa while reaching the world,” the Chief Minister added, describing Kadkade not just as an artist, but as a cultural ambassador who continues to inspire generations.
The ‘Gomant Vibhushan’ is the highest civilian honour bestowed by the Government of Goa, recognizing individuals who have made extraordinary contributions in their fields.
