Earlier, Yogi Adityanath called RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav “three monkeys”
New Delhi: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has sharply responded to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s “Appu, Pappu and Tappu” jibe, saying that if the BJP leader were seated among a troop of monkeys, no one would be able to tell him apart.
Speaking at an election rally in Bihar, Yadav said the ruling party was invoking Mahatma Gandhi’s three monkeys to distract voters from key issues such as unemployment, inflation, and governance failures. “The BJP is talking about Gandhiji’s monkeys only to divert public attention. The truth is, if he sat among monkeys, you and I wouldn’t be able to recognise him,” Yadav remarked, drawing laughter from the crowd.
The exchange comes after Yogi Adityanath mocked opposition leaders Tejashwi Yadav, Rahul Gandhi, and Akhilesh Yadav, calling them the “three monkeys” who, unlike Gandhi’s symbols of moral restraint, were spreading lies and attempting to mislead voters. Addressing a rally in Muzaffarpur, Adityanath had said, “Appu, Pappu, and Tappu want to deceive the people of Bihar and bring back jungle raj.”
He also claimed that Bihar witnessed rampant crime and lawlessness during the Rashtriya Janata Dal’s earlier tenure, while asserting that the current NDA government under Nitish Kumar had improved the state’s economy, governance, and job opportunities. “The opposition wants to divide people on caste lines. If you are divided, you will perish. Support NDA again,” he urged voters.
Bihar heads into a crucial Assembly election, with the first phase of polling scheduled for tomorrow and the second on November 11. Votes will be counted on November 14. The contest pits the NDA alliance of JD(U), BJP, Lok Janshakti Party, and Hindustani Awam Morcha against the Mahagathbandhan led by RJD, Congress, Left parties, and Vikassheel Insaan Party.
