ALDONA: Aldona MLA Carlos Alvares Ferreira threatened to challenge the circular ordering schools to register accounts with private banker Axis Bank in order to route the wage grant before the High Court, accusing the State administration of “favouring a private entity.”
Alvares Ferreira made the following comment in a video: “The decision smacks of nepotism.” Maharashtra made a similar choice. It is contested before the Bombay High Court’s Nagpur Bench when it is discovered that the deputy chief minister’s spouse holds the position of vice president of Azis Bank.”
According to Alvares-Ferreira, “the Goa Education Act’s regulations explicitly specify that salary grants must be disbursed through government banks. If he does not receive a satisfactory response, he will petition the High Court on behalf of the institutions.”
Alvares-Ferreira questioned the selection of Axis Bank as well, pointing out that the bank lacked branches in rural and underdeveloped areas.
“There isn’t an Axis Bank branch anywhere in my Aldona constituency. If there are any issues with the teachers’ bank accounts, where will they go?” Alvares-Ferreira.
