VASCO: An Alert citizen from Vasco Sanket Lotlikar and Vasco police helped a three-year-old girl reunite with her family at the Damodar Saptah Fair on late Sunday evening.
According to the information available, the three-year-old girl Alina Shaikh who had arrived with her family from Navelim was lost in the huge massive crowd that was present on the last day of the Damodar Saptah fair in Vasco.
The parents looked for the girl everywhere but she was nowhere to be found. The grieving parents and guardians took all the efforts to trace the baby girl but she was nowhere to be seen amidst the huge crowd. The parents then approached the police at the outpost next to the Damodar temple and requested the police to help
However, an alert citizen Sanket Lotlikar played a major role in re-uniting the three-year-old with her family
“At the Saptah Fair, I saw a small girl moving alone near La Paz hotel with a toy in her hand. We then realised that she was probably lost and we asked her name but she was small and she could not speak properly, probably because she was scared. We then continued to follow her and when she reached the outpost, we informed the police that the girl may have been lost and to check. The police took her in their custody and we waited for around half an hour at around 11.30 PM,” he said.
He added, “Finally a man approached and said that it was his daughter, but since we were not sure, we asked him to show us any of her photos on his mobile phone. He then came with the women of his family and the girl was finally handed over after a thorough verification. This is the 125th year of Damodar Saptah and we are thankful that the baby girl was united with her family because sometimes we see a lot of crimes like child rapes, kidnapping and other crimes. We are thankful to Lord Damodar that no such events have occurred and the baby girl has been reunited with family.”
