PANJIM: Health Minister Vishwajit Rane today informed that the Health Department has decided to shift most of the critical patient’s from Covid-19 hospital to the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).
Rane also informed that GMCH will start three wards exclusively for extremely critical COVID patients starting from Monday.
Addressing the media, Rane said “The Health ministry is taking all possible steps to prevent deaths.Ward no 145, 146 and 147 will be commissioned from Monday at GMC with ventilators and HFNO machines to treat critical COVID patients.”
He said, “There would be no compromise on the quality of materials purchased by the government for COVID19.We have done everything with Cabinet approvals. There was a time we were struggling to get PPEs. Today we have installed 192 ventilators. Everything has been done with Cabinet approvals,”
Rane further said that the Centre has allowed suspension of Finance rules for COVID19 purchases.
“The ventilators will be used post COVID in other hospitals they are not going to go waste,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Health Minister informed that health Ministry has provided plasma and also ventilators to the private hospitals.
Rane also said that people are going to private hospitals by their choice for COVID19 treatment and government is provide all possible treatment.
He said the Centre too wants a cap on treatment by private hospitals and the State will also look into.
“We are not forcing anyone to go there,” he said.
