PANAJI:
Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Girish Chodankar has warned Goa Police and Chief Minister Dr . Pramod Sawant led BJP government not to harass the Congress volunteers who are providing life-saving oxygen to COVID-19 patients.
He was reacting after police summoned Youth Congress office-bearers for questioning, these officer bearers had supplied oxygen cylinder to a needy patient who was suffering due to non-availability of oxygen.
“Stooping so low is cheap and inhuman politics. Like Congress, many NGOs are also providing life support to hundreds of struggling patients. It’s our bounden duty when Government of the day fails,” Chodankar said.
It may be recalled that Congress volunteers through its control room are helping COVID-19 patients and their families.
The police action comes after Youth Congress office-bearer Mr. Saish Aroskar’s photograph went viral. In the said photograph he along with Glan Cabral was seen carrying an oxygen cylinder.
Chodankar said that GPCC General Secretary Jana Bhandari, GPYC President Varad Mardolkar, St. Andrem Youth Block president Saish Aroskar, YC State Secretary Glan Cabral & others are being harassed by the police.
GPCC president Girish Chodankar pointed out that these COVID warriors have been summoned by Agacaim Police.
He further said one SP, Two Dy. SP and a PI are put in job by Chief Minister to target Congress workers and to stop Congressmen from helping the needy.
“Govt of Goa is not helping needy, not creating required infrastructure, nor have action plan to save lives of people, nor are they allowing others to help needy patients. If providing oxygen cylinder to needy patients is a crime then we will commit such crime repeatedly and no one can stop us,” Chodankar said.
“It is high time that Dr. Pramod Sawant who has miserably failed as Chief Minister to govern and save lives should join the GMC Doctors team as Goa is hard press for Doctors. We think at least he can serve patients in the capacity of a Doctor,” he added.
