PONDA: The citizens of Ponda have urged Authorities to use vacant space underneath flyover for Parking of vehicles.
Already the space below flyover are occupied for parking by some trucks, buses, cars and also abandoned vehicles are seen. Beside it is also used for illegal vending purpose.
Environmentalist Sandeep Parkar said Ponda Taluka is big with vast population. Its headquarter at Ponda City and is facing the major problem on account of shortage of spaces for Parking in City area.
He said that there there are designated parking spaces at City but they are felling short for parking of vehicles of thousands of people visiting City from various Parts of Taluka. Almost all roads in City are used for parking.
The space below flyover with 1 km long has huge space and accomodate for parking thousands vehicles.
Vishal Fadte said many employees working in Industries and other places park their vehicles in City parking spaces and often returns in evening to receive their bike blocking the parking spaces for entire day and causing hardship to locals visiting in City.
He said during Shigmo Festival people faces parking Problem. He said with proper cleaning and arrangement the space can be best used for parking as both sides of service road underneath the flyover can facilitate parking for entry and exit.
