Panaji: Amaira Dhumatker secured a landmark bronze medal in the Girls Under 11 singles at the Yonex Sunrise 4th Mini National Badminton Championships 2025, giving Goa its first singles podium finish at the Nationals in several years.
She advanced to the semifinals after a hard fought win over Andhra Pradesh’s Sri Adhya Reddy Kaduluri, rallying to take the match 17-21, 21-17, 21-15. Amaira put up strong resistance in the last four before losing to Telangana’s Saina Sharma 21-23, 9-21. In doubles, she and Komal Kothari stretched Tamil Nadu’s Iniyasri M and Kavanya Jothi NP to three games in the quarterfinals.
Goa Badminton Association President Manoj Patil described the medal as a major moment for the state. Secretary Praveen Shenoy said Amaira has emerged as one of Goa’s most promising young players and praised her consistency throughout the competition.
