PANAJI: Goa’s emerging badminton prodigy Amaira Dhumatker has delivered another impressive campaign, securing her place in the quarterfinals of the Yonex Sunrise 4th Mini National Badminton Championships 2025 in Vadodara. Competing in the under 11 category, the nine year old displayed remarkable control, consistency and maturity well beyond her age as she navigated through a demanding draw at the Sama Sports Complex.
Her journey began with a commanding performance in the Round of 64 against Pranjal Kumari Dharkar of Rajasthan. Amaira set the tone early, maintaining a fast pace and keeping her opponent on the defensive throughout both games. Her ability to dictate rallies helped her close out the match 21-10, 21-3 without allowing any momentum shift.
In the Round of 32, she faced Ahana Srimani of West Bengal, a matchup that tested her adaptability. Amaira started strongly by taking the opening game 21-6, using sharp placement and quick net play. The second game saw a more competitive response from her opponent, but Amaira held her composure during key points to finish the contest 21-17, securing her second straight-sets win of the tournament.
Her Round of 16 clash against Uttar Pradesh’s Megha Singh brought another display of measured aggression. Amaira balanced court coverage with controlled attacking play to claim a 21-15, 21-14 victory, reinforcing her reputation as one of Goa’s most promising young athletes.
Ranked number one in Goa in both singles and doubles, Amaira has been steadily building her profile as a rising talent with strong national potential. Her ability to sustain momentum across three successive matches reflects her growing tactical awareness and mental resilience.
She will next meet Sri Adhya Reddy Kaduluri of Andhra Pradesh in the quarterfinals on Wednesday. With her current form and unwavering confidence, Amaira enters the final stages of the championship with strong prospects and increasing attention from the national badminton community.
