PONDA: The Ambe-Dhulay bandhara on Dudhsagar-Opa river to augment Opa water treatment plant storage by 1.5 lakh cubic meters.
The newly constructed unique bandhara cum Bandhara at Ambe-Dhulay on Dudhsagar – Opa river will add 1.5 lakh cubic meters (cum) of water to the Opa water works storage.
It was inaugurated in May 2022 by WRD Minister Subash Shirodkar, and the bandhara has filled to its full level on Wednesday afternoon.
The unique Bandhara is used for dual purposes, i.e. for storage purposes as well as it will serve as a footbridge to villagers.
The footbridge demand was pending for forty years and was finally realised in May this year.
The idea for the footbridge was mooted by Sanvordem MLA Ganesh Gaonkar as locals were facing great hardship in crossing the river during monsoon. The 71-metre-long bandhara-cum-footbridge is 8.5m high and 2.6m wide.
