PERNEM: In the early hours of Tuesday, a dramatic incident unfolded at Mahakhajan Dhargal, near the bridge, when an ambulance suddenly caught fire. The incident occurred around 3:00 AM, highlighting the critical importance of swift emergency responses.
The ambulance, bearing the registration number MH 14 CL 0554, was en route to the Goa Medical College (GMC) with a patient when a short circuit in the vehicle triggered the fire. The driver, acting swiftly, managed to pull the ambulance to the side and safely evacuate the patients before calling for another ambulance from Goa.
Pernem fire officer Jairam Shetgaonkar, who led the fire response team, arrived promptly at the scene. Fortunately, no human injuries were reported during the incident. The quick thinking and immediate action of the driver and the fire team prevented what could have been a tragic outcome.
