New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday chaired a high-level meeting to review the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, reaffirming the government’s firm commitment to making the region completely free of terrorism.
The Delhi-based meeting was attended by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Union Home Secretary, Chief of Army Staff, Director of the Intelligence Bureau, Chief Secretary, DGP of Jammu and Kashmir, and heads of Central Armed Police Forces.
Officials briefed the Home Minister on the latest security scenario, recent counter-terror operations, and inter-agency coordination efforts. Shah lauded the “determined and united” performance of security forces, noting that their efforts have “almost crippled” terror networks operating in the region.
“The government will continue to provide all necessary resources and ensure complete operational freedom to our security agencies,” Shah said, emphasizing India’s unwavering resolve to eliminate terrorism from its soil.
Referring to the recent terror incident in Pahalgam, Shah praised the swift and coordinated response of local authorities and security forces, which helped reinforce stability and public confidence in the Valley. He also stressed the importance of enhanced coordination among agencies and maintaining “the highest level of vigilance” to prevent any lapses.
With winter approaching, the Home Minister directed security forces to remain fully alert against infiltration attempts that may occur under the cover of snow.
The meeting underscored the Modi government’s proactive and comprehensive approach to ensuring lasting peace and security in Jammu and Kashmir, sending a strong message that any attempt to disrupt stability will be met with decisive action.
